Things to Do
Pyegreave Cottage is situated near Kinder Scout and Edale which are at the bottom of the Pennine Way and is in a perfect area for keen walkers and the not so serious walkers who may prefer to amble on “Tea Shop” or “Pub” walks.
For visitors who enjoy cycling there are the High Peak and Tissington Trails which are easily accessed and provide over 30 miles of flat, traffic-free cycling, walking and horse riding. Bicycles are available to hire locally.
Within a few miles of the cottage there are 5 golf courses to play from steep and exposed with panoramic views to gentle parkland surrounded by beautiful scenery. Each course has its own special features.
Places where fishing may be possible at certain times of the year include:
Errwood Reservoir, Rudyard Lake, Lamaload Reservoir, Ladybower Reservoir, River Wye

Climbing is available both indoors and outdoors for all abilities.
For those who prefer to be less strenuous the cottage is within easy driving distance of the great houses of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Keddleston Hall, Lyme Hall (TVs Pride and Prejudice location) and many other National Trust properties.
The Spa town of Buxton is only 3 miles away with its famous Opera House which features a varied programme throughout the year. The Opera House is renowned for holding both the Buxton Festival with its operas and fringe concerts and the annual International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival.
In Castleton you will find the labyrinth of limestone caves with stalactites and stalagmites and where the prized stone Blue John is exclusively mined.
Old traditions continue to thrive and in the Summer the traditional art of decorating springs and wells with pictures using only what nature can provide takes place in many of the villages (Well Dressings).
